A Hawaiian bottled water company, which makes its bottles from recycled PET, has turned to Austrian blow molding machinery maker PET Technologies GmbH for new equipment.
Waiakea Hawaiian Water has installed a stretch blow molding machine, the APF-6004. that can turn out 6,000 bottles an hour, of up to 1.5 liters, using a four-cavity mold. Waiakea blow molds the PET bottles and they go straight to the filling line, according to Vladimir Tsallagov, export director for PET Technologies. The press can make 5,500 2-liter bottles an hour, he said.
Tsallagov said the blow molder uses is a combination of electrical and pneumatic components, all of them well-known European brands.
Because Waiakea is located in Hilo, Hawaii — far from most machinery suppliers — the company needed something that was reliable and could be adapted, PET Technologies said.
The Hawaiian supplier of high-end bottled water will make five bottle sizes, from 33 mililiters to 1,500 ml. The company bottles water from snowmelt and rain on the Mauna Loa Volcano. The thick-wall bottles are an azure color that resembles Hawaiian lagoons. Volcano peaks decorate the container shoulders.
PET Technologies is based in Neunkirchen, Austria. The company builds its machinery in Chernihiv, Ukraine.
